At Bar-le-Duc, we believe in a healthy and sustainable lifestyle. It feels as our obligation to contribute to a more sustainable world. One must always practice what you preach, so we were the first national beverage brand to design a bottle of 100% recycled PET (rPET). But our sustainability plans will not stop there. We are looking for more possibilities.
The film for our sixpacks already consisted of 60% recycled material and now our bottles are also made from 100% recycled PET. This development is even a step further that the current legislation and regulations. But we want to achieve more and believe that we can.
Sustainability is a very important aspect of our ambition. It is a big part of what we stand for. But achieving sustainability is not always easy. Together with the producer of our bottles, we looked for ways to make our bottle out of 100% rPET. It didn't took to long before we did it! This fitted perfectly within our ambition. The bottles were always made of PET, so this switch was not that big. Read more about our 100% rPET bottle.
Parts of the package
The bottle is a good incentive to search for more ways to be more sustainable and contribute to a lasting difference. But the bottle is of course not the only part of the packaging. The cap, the wrapper, the ink on the wrapper etc. All parts we think about and look for sustainable alternatives. We are in talks with suppliers, but we have not yet achieved the desired result.
In case of the cap it is not that weird: it must comply with strict safety guidelines. Imagine that the cap on a carbonated beverage dissolves while the product is on the shelf of a store. Or that the cap does not meet hygienic requirements. Nevertheless, we would like to further examine these parts of our packaging. That's why we are looking for partners who want to think about this question, suppliers who can already provide 100% recycled material (complying with all laws and regulations) or general good ideas.
