Rural Spark wants to change how energy is generated and distributed in rural India. Instead of a top-down approach using the central grid only, we believe in a hybrid solution where energy is generated and traded locally. To get the energy solutions to the rural areas of India, Rural Spark is looking for for distribution partners and financing partners.
Sharing and trading energy
In rural India 400 million people don't have access to clean, safe and sustainable energy. Rural Spark develops bottom-up energy networks with Local Energy Suppliers. These local suppliers are village entrepreneurs who own a Rural Spark Energy Kit to charge lamps, phones, power banks, tv’s and fans based on solar energy. The local supplier is able to rent out these products and is thus supplying, sharing and trading energy with their fellow villagers while generating an income.
We believe that the central grid needs to be complemented by decentralised energy sources to secure 100% energy access in India. On top of that, to mitigate climate change, these sources should be renewable like solar, wind and biomass. The impact created by Rural Spark’s solutions is large. Not only does it provide access to clean, safe and sustainable energy for potentially 400 million rural Indian people, it also leapfrogs the outdated, top-down centralised energy grids. These smartly distributed energy networks empower users and will change the way we use energy.
Wanted: distribution and financing partners
We are a product company and have a manufacturing unit in India. To get the energy solutions out in the rural areas of India, Rural Spark is looking for partnerships with the right distribution partners that can reach last-mile connectivity and financing partners for end-user finance. These partners are necessary to take care of aspects like money collection, distribution of products, after sales services and reverse logistics. Furthermore, we are looking for early-stage investors that share our vision on the future energy system.
